Antony and the Johnsons

Born in the UK before arriving in New York via Amsterdam and California, Antony Hegarty released his self-titled debut as Antony and the Johnsons in 1998 on the smal Durtro label in 1998. The album was re-relased by Secretly Canadian two years later and again in 2004, this time on Antony's growing status which culminated in the Mercury Prize winning I Am a Bird Now, released a year later. The Crying Light - the arguably as good if not better follow up - was released in early 2009.
