Bat For Lashes

The pseudonym for the eclectic sounds of Brighton-born/ part-Pakistani bred Natasha Khan, Bat For Lashes singularly blazed-trail picked up considerable pace when debut album Fur and Gold received a Mercury Prize nomination in 2007. Controversially beaten to the honour by Klaxons (Fur and Gold had lept from outsider to favourite), it nevertheless introduced an artist of PJ Harvey/ Bjork-esque importance to a wider audience. 2009's follow-up Two Suns found further favour, charting at number 3 in the UK upon release and later garnering a second Mercury nod.
