Born in Oregon, but raised in St. Paul, Minneapolis, Ben Weaver dropped out of college after a year and recorded and released his debut El Camino Blues aged 20. Weaver's second record Living In The Ground was written on the road and recorded a year later. Albums three and four Hollerin' At A Woodpecker (2002) and Stories Under Nails ('04) were the first released internationally to much acclaim in the UK. Paper Sky followed again on his own Fugawee Bird label in 2006 and The Ax In The Oak on Chicago imprint Bloodshot in 2008.
