Cass McCombs

An American songwriter born of the traditional romantic wandering sense, it's unsurprising that California native Cass McCombs has spent much of that songwriting life swapping city for city and town for town. Having cut his teeth in New York, he wrote and recorded the 4AD-released debut A whilst living in Baltimore and after a quick turn around with 2005's PREfection, relocated to Los Angeles where he emerged, now signed to Domino, with 2008's Dropping The Writ. To keep things nicely symmetrical, album number four Catacombs was released in June '09.

Review of Cass McCombs - Catacombs by Cass McCombs

The title of Cass McCombs’ new album sounds so much like his name that you can’t help but wonder if he’s hinting at the labyrinthine depths of his inner self. Maybe I’m overthinking this, but the media-shy troubadour doesn’t exactly dissuade such analysis; a prime...

Review of Dropping The Writ by Cass McCombs
