Undoubtedly one of the most compelling performers around and bound to become one of the most important, Atlanta's Bradford Cox formed Deerhunter in 2001. After some line-up changes, they released their debut Turn It Up Faggot in 2005. Cryptograms followed two years later and by the time the band's third album Microcastle arrived soon afterwards, anticipation had reached mass internet leaking levels. The album's eventual physical release was combined with the 13-track bonus disc Weird Era Cont. - bringing Cox's personal 2008 tally to three following his solo, side release of Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel. His second album as Atlas Sound - Logos - followed a year later.
