Alela Diane Reveals Details Of Album Number Three
31 Jan 2011

Hailing from Nevada City, California, Alela Diane was always going to invite comparisons to high-priestess of New Weird America Joanna Newsom. But Diane - who now resides in another famously musical corner of The US: Portland, Oregon - has released a brace of albums that showcase her more concise, straightforward take on psych folk. The first of these, 2006's The Pirate's Gospel, was voted Rough Trade Shops' Album of The Year; this subsequently led to the singer inking a deal with the esteemed label, who've just announced they will be putting out her third album, entitled Alela Diane & Wild Divine, in April.

The 'Wild Divine' in the record's title refers to Diane's backing band - which is something of a family affair, given that it includes both her father and husband as guitarists. The album was recorded with renowned R.E.M./Nirvana/The Replacements producer Scott Litt, who was so impressed by the demos he heard that he decided to end seven years of inactivity by inviting Diane and band to his home studio in Venice, CA to make it.

Alela Diane & Wild Divine will be released on April 4 - check below for full tracklisting, and click here for a sneaky peek at the album artwork. The singer also has a clutch of UK live dates pencilled in for mid-May, with more expected to be announced in due course.
