Download Young Montana?'s Latest Mix for BTS Radio
Having left his mark last September with a much talked-about debut mix for BTS Radio - an offering that BTS honcho Andrew Meza listed as one of his highlights of 2010 - producer-of-the-moment Young Montana? has now returned for round two. For the uninitiated, BTS Radio has a proud tradition of unearthing the cream of the beat-making crop, with everyone from Lone, Nathan Fake and Letherette to local Brainfeeder heads like Teebs and Mono/Poly having already showcased their wares on Meza's weekly show.
There's a mostly upbeat feel to this latest set, as Coventry native Jon Pritchard drops forty minutes of jittery, beat-infused goodness that mirrors his own soulful cut-and-paste production style. Dorian Concept, Matthewdavid and Mike Slott are all on there, along with Jamie xx's now ubiquitous Adele reshuffle and Pritchard's own recent reworking of Solar Bears' non-album cut 'Dream Valley' (streamable on its own below).
The undoubted highlight, though, comes in the shape of a preview snippet from Young Montana?'s upcoming collaboration with semi-mysterious Ipswich producer S.Maharba. Charmingly titled 'Wanking A Pineapple', its technicolour vocal sample jumps right out of the speakers and had us frantically scouring YouTube (to no avail) for a dodgy audio rip. Beat trivia fans will perhaps be interested to learn that Mr. Maharba is the man responsible for the trippy cover artwork adorning YM?'s superb Limerence LP, which has just been released through Alpha Pup. A man of many talents it seems...
Live-wise, as well as appearing at the Streets Of Beige Warehouse Party in London on May 27, Young Montana? is set to play an unmissable free show at Dublin's Button Factory the following night alongside pals Solar Bears and Andrew Hung of Fuck Buttons. Did we mention it was FREE?!? Meanwhile, don't just take our word for it that Limerence is a thing of much greatness (although we're not the only ones, in fairness) - head straight over to Fact magazine, who were still streaming the bejayzus out of the album last time we checked. Try before you buy and all that jazz...
