Listen: tieranniesaur - 'In The Sargasso (LIGHTS In The Attic mix)'
Did someone order some disco-flavoured piano house?!? Because that's exactly what Dublin producer LIGHTS DC (aka Neil Dixon) is serving up on his ace remix of 'In The Sargasso', one of several standout numbers from tieranniesaur's self-titled debut LP from last year. Says Dixon of his rework:
It’s a straightforward house piano track, something I’ve wanted to try for a while. There’s a bit of sidechaining on the bass, and a filtered section in the middle…does that make it French?? I don’t know, and who gives a bollocks?...
You can decide for yourselves below just how French or otherwise the remix sounds, but we reckon he's on to a winner. The producer is amassing quite the catalogue of remixes at this stage - check out his SoundCloud page for evidence of previous work on tracks by Irish acts Le Galaxie, Dark Room Notes and Electric Penguins, among others.
We've posted the album version of 'In The Sargasso' below
for the craic by way of comparison, as well as a promising original cut from LIGHTS DC entitled 'Calypso'.
While we're at it, tieranniesaur have a couple of live shows coming up next month. The Popical Islanders will play Dublin's Whelans on March 9 – the night after they perform as one of the nominated acts at this year's Meteor Choice Music Prize – as well as providing support for Whipping Boy at The Camden Barfly on March 16.
